Soccer falls to Central Maine in non-conference match up

Haverhill, MA (September 9, 2023) – The Northern Essex Community College men's soccer team dropped an 8-3 decision on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action to Central Maine Community College. With the loss the Knights fall to 1-1 on the young on the young.
Jadiel Bomfin (Nashua, NH) staked the Knights out to 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when he recorded his third goal of the season with a goal from just inside the box. CMCC would go on to rattle off five straight first half goals over a 27-minute span that gave them a lead they would not relinquish.
Estavan Arango (Nashua, NH) would cut the lead to 5-2 just before the half as he launched a rocket from 30 yards out into the upper right corner to cut the defecit to three before the half. Kaleb Gianini (Lowell) cut the lead the 5-3 in the 58th minute as he converted a penalty kick after being taken down in the box working his way around defender.
CMCC would tally three more goals before the final whistle to result in the 8-3 final.
The Knights will hit the road on Tuesday for the first time this season as they continue their season opening five-game non-conference schedule when they travel to Concord, NH to take on NHTI.
